One of the best Cologne breweries

Delicious Kölsch, nice ambience, functional brewery meal at moderate prices. But the Köbes is one of the most outrageous things I've ever experienced in gastronomy. That has nothing to do with "Kölsche Köbesse are just like that, rough skin, soft core, etc." to do. This one is just cheeky, no trace of cordiality. This has been the case for years and is therefore probably wanted. Perhaps this is to ensure that the regular guests stay among themselves. In any case, I'll be spending my money elsewhere in the future.

The Chamber of Horrors is just great. The food is always delicious and especially the hearty beef soup that is served in advance. Unbelievable good! The Köbesse is totally pleasant, friendly and with good sayings, just as you would expect from a Köbes. Always like to come here!

Cologne brewery culture is still cultivated here. If you were to stick to a few customs as an Immi, you would find that the beer is one of the best, the food delicious and the Köbese are worthy of a Cologne brewery.

A cool, very traditional brauhaus.

I'm from Cologne but what the local chef has allowed himself to be puffy is not possible at all. If you really want to be humiliated, this is the place for you .... the name says it all ... Chamber of horrors .... delicious food and delicious Kölsch ... but .... well-being and warmth cannot be found

Delicious tasty beer and great food too

2 star deduction, because the waiters are super cheeky. That's no longer funny either. We were there more often. Once, when it was full, we asked something and were not even looked at, but simply ignored. Eating is normal. Otherwise you can do it.

Institution in Cologne! Just go in and be in the veedel. There are a few places outside. Beer is currently totally IN as a bottle in Cologne

I was there in the first week of November 2019. What should I say? No the food and the service don't deserve 5 stars. But hey: this is one of the most typical Cologne bars. So go there and enjoy real Cologne hospitality and for having a "Kölsch", the typical beer.

Amazing Goulasch soup. Schweinschnirzel was very good. Excellent house brewed beer. Very busy and atmospheric beer house. Staff are under pressure at busy times. Service friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

One of favorite places in Köln, has excellent food and has their own Kölsch, very Lecker! Yummmmmy! A hidden gem!?

Was here with my father in law and two friends. Had some really nice Himmel und Erd, with plenty of beer to wash it down. Be on time if you want to have lunch here! They close strictly on time.

An evening in the nightmare is always a dream! Especially with Frank as Köbes - always having a story ... the food is delicious and at a great value! The "Art" must first classify "strangers" - but after that is nothing to stand in the way of a cozy evening! And definitely try the acrobat - because käbänes gibbet not here! ;-)

Just one of my favorite Brewery houses in Cologne .

Clocky, timeless and above all with hearty, delicious food, topped with a great Kölsch! There can not be a better combination. Do not wonder about the sand on the ground, there's an explanation inside. Visit the Dread Chamber, it's worth it! Finally, I always recommend a telephone reservation!

Great spot for traditional food and Kölsch to wash it down.

Rude, obviously did not want us there. Visited one night, good beer and bratwurst. Waiters seem to know regulars, but clearly did not want outsiders. Tried again next night. No direction as to where to sit or any welcome. Sat at one table, told "reserved" and had to get up and leave. Asked if any place for 2 to sit, told "maybe later." Found someplace else to eat that was more friendly.

Rough behaviour. Good beer. Traditional restaurant and brewery. Waiters buying beer from brewery and trying to sell as much as possible so your small glass is never empty.

It was quiet on my visit so the server was capable of serving without acting rudely, as others have commented. We spoke some German but he kindly spoke some English to help. It was a hearty meal, good sized portions and good quality without being spectacular. Good price:performance ratio. Their Kolsch was among the best I tasted of 10 or 11 varieties. The restaurant has a traditional spit-and-sawdust pub feel, even with sand on the floor. Highly recommended.

Well, I have been to very much places, but this one is the most unfriendly place I have ever visited. Instead of telling us which table to sit on they treated us as a dog. They were very, very rude and before they brought us our first drink we left this bar. Do not visit this place. Family with two kids (15 and 18)

Great food if you like schnitzel or sausage! The waiter was insane! watch out for their constant encouragement to neck your beer, the waiters when challenged will out drink anyone! The atmosphere was electric & given how busy it was (it was packed to the walls) the food was piping hot & very tasty! I felt the prices were very reasonable too...

Very glad I paid this place a visit. The Kolsh was fantastic, and quite different from some of the others I had while in Cologne. My meal was great too. Yes, the service might be a little slow, but most people come here to talk, not just to eat, so just relax and enjoy the beer and the lively atmosphere.
